Babar Azam has dropped from one day series against Bangladesh that will start from 11th March and ended on 15th March. All three matches will be played at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka. This will be the first series after T20 World Cup 2026.
Babar Azam was in poor form throughout T20 World Cup, 2026 and scored just 91 runs in 4 Innings at an average of 22.75, with the highest score of 46 runs. He has been out of form since many series but still team Pakistan has selected Babar for T20 World Cup, 2026.
Pakistan has not qualified for the Semi Final match even after winning last match against Sri Lanka as Pakistan has not been able to bowl out team Sri Lanka with required scores to get qualification. Babar Azam has not even selected for the last game against Sri Lanka due to his below the average performance in T20 World Cup.
Next big ICC tournament is 2027 ODI World Cup and the exclusion of Babar from the squad is a big blow for him. He has not been performing well for team Pakistan and playing with very less strike rate and create more pressure on the non-striker batsman.

Babar Performance in T20 World Cup 2026:
Babar has selected for T20 World Cup and Rizwan has dropped for T20 World Cup. Role has been already defined for Babar, but he has totally failed to deliver his role, and Pakistan has been ruled out from the World Cup. He has failed to score big runs in World Cup.
Babar has not even scored single fifty in this tournament and has not even selected for the last game against Sri Lanka stating he has not played with a good strike rate.
Big Setback for Babar Azam for not getting his name in Pakistan Squad for the upcoming One Day Series of 3 matches against team Bangladesh and it is a big signal from team management and selection committee before 2027 World Cup.

Team Pakistan has benched total 6 capped players for the upcoming series. Sahibzada Farhan has been rewarded big and included in the squad after heroic performance in T20 World Cup. He was the only batsman who scored big runs for team Pakistan.
Shaheen Shah Afridi has been named as Captain for the upcoming series. His form was also in question but still he has been nominated as a Captain.
Squad of team Pakistan:
- Shaheen Shah Afridi- Captain

Mohammad Rizwan has selected for the series and great opportunity for him to perform well and cementing his name into the squad for the upcoming ICC World Cup 2027. A new Wicket Keeper namely Muhammad Ghazi Ghori has named as Wicket Keeper and second option as a Wicket Keeper.
Shadab Khan has also dropped from the team after getting failure in T20 World Cup. Pakistan team has selected many new faces for the series against Bangladesh, and it will be interesting to see how these new players will perform against team Bangladesh.
It seems that team Pakistan has tired after giving end number of chances to Babar, but he has failed at all the times and Selection committee has finally dropped him and gave a strong message. Babar has to prove his worth in team by playing local matches and only than he can be included into the team.
ODI World Cup 2027 will be the biggest ICC Tournament, and all the teams are going to finalize their squad. It will be interesting to see whether team Pakistan will again select Babar for upcoming ODI World Cup or not.
