Pakistan likely to play match against India and can dropped boycott decision
vrushangshah93@gmail.com Pakistan likely to play a match against India amid ICC pressure and a request from a Sri Lanka Cricket Board.
Pakistan has boycotted the match against India and shown support to team Bangladesh. On 15th February 2026, there will be a clash of India versus Pakistan in Sri Lanka.
India has cleared their stance by saying they are going to Sri Lanka for the match against Pakistan. But the Pakistan cricket board has refused to play against India.
Now, there are chances that the Pakistan Cricket Board can take a U Turn and agree to play against India.
There are 2 reasons that make Pakistan to play:
(1) ICC can take a harsh decision and can impose a heavy penalty as well. As per rules, Teams can only be denied playing when there’s any natural calamities and situations like War. But Pakistan has no valid reasons for denying a match against India.
(2) Sri Lanka Cricket Board has requested PCB to withdraw their decision and take a part in a match. Sri Lanka Cricket Board has stated that they have completed the series against Pakistan even there’s a security issue. Also stated that they have to bear heavy loss if the match gets cancelled.
PCB has to think again as ICC can impose penalties and this will be a huge loss for team Pakistan and for their Cricket Board.
ICC stated that they can either boycott the whole tournament or else play all the matches. Pakistan is going to play all the matches of the World Cup except against India so this stand of PCB has been raising a big question.
India and Pakistan have played many matches at the neutral places and this time also the matches of India and Pakistan will be hosted in Sri Lanka instead of India. Even after, Pakistan has taken a decision to boycott.
Bangladesh Cricket Board has boycotted due to security concerns. But Pakistan Cricket Board cannot take this decision as Matches are going to be played at a neutral place.
Pakistan and India both have played their first match and won the matches and secured 2 important points. If Pakistan will not play against India then India will get 2 points and Pakistan will get 0 Point.
India and Pakistan both are in Group A. Now a big question is if Pakistan and India reach the Final then Pakistan will play or not.
