IPL 2026 new rules will restrict players & their team as BCCI has introduced New Rules & guidelines just before starting of Indian Premier League 2026. All teams have to follow these guidelines introduced by BCCI and these rules likely to be restrict players & their family members. So, let’s check out the new guidelines that introduced by BCCI ahead of IPL 2026.

Rules for Family of Players:
BCCI has enforced strict rules regarding family members of team Players. Family members cannot travel with the team players in their bus. They need to travel separately. Family members cannot enter into ground during net session. They can watch the players from the hospitality area only.
Earlier family members and friend of IPL players have seen travelling with the players in Buses but now after this new guideline, no family member will be allowed to travel with team bus. Even they cannot enter the ground during practice session.
Rules for IPL players:
- Now players can practice only on the pitches which have been allocated to them specifically. Players cannot used any other pitches for their net practice. Even if the non-allocated pitched are vacate still players cannot use that pitch for the practice.
- During Practice session only players and officials team persons will be eligible to stay on the ground, and no family members will allow during net sessions.
- All the players have to maintain code of conduct and have to travel with team bus only. Many times, it has seen that players have not travelled with team bus instead they travel with their personal vehicle. But after these new rules, all the players have to travel with the team bus only and no family members will be allowed in team bus.
- Even IPL team has to give the list of Net Bowlers and throwdown specialist, and only selected members can be allowed on the ground.
- Even team players have to take care of LED Advertisement board during practice session.
- Now players cannot do practice session, fitness test or drills on a match day.
- Orange cap holder and purple cap holder need to wear the cap during the match. If they are not comfortable with the cap, then they have to wear it at least for 2 overs of the beginning so that broadcaster can captured them wearing caps.
- In match presentation, players cannot wear sleeveless jersey.
Rules regarding Practice:
Earlier there were no restrictions on players regarding practice session. But now BCCI has imposed new rules regarding practice. The rules are as follows:
- Players cannot do practice on a match day. Suppose if there’s a match between Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings then players of both teams will not allow to do practice on a match day.
- Even players cannot give fitness test on a match day. Every team has to complete their fitness test a day before the match only.
- Team has to give a list of net bowlers and throwdown specialist. Only selected persons will be allowed as a Net Bowlers and throwdown specialist. Non-selected cannot be entered into the ground.
What if not followed rules:
If team and players will not follow the rules, then they have to be ready for the penalty. If any players and team will do mistake for the first time, then warning will be given. If they continue to do the same mistake, then Penalty or fine will be imposed on team and their players. These rules are applicable from IPL 2026 itself, and Players and their team have to take care of all the given guidelines to save themselves from the penalty or fine.
IPL 2026 is about to start, and these BCCI new guidelines and rules make it more complicated for players and their teams.
